Use Your Dental Benefits Before They Expire At The End Of 2021

Can you believe that there are less than five weeks left until 2021 is over? If you’ve been paying for dental health insurance, now is the time for you to remember that these benefits are not without an end. That is why LandMark Dentistry wants to make sure you and your family make the most of your remaining dental benefits before you lose them so that you can end the year and begin 2022 with a brighter and healthier smile!

Dental Benefits and Health Savings Funds

A dental benefit plan is an insurance policy that covers gum and teeth issues and protects you from high dental care costs. However, the benefits expire at the end of each year, so you’ll end up losing them if you do not use all the benefits allotted to you.

Your 2021 dental benefits will expire on December 31st. Moreover, the money you accrued in your 2021 Flexible Spending Account (FSA) will also expire. Dental insurance benefits are not free; you paid for it and deserved a chance to make the most of it. That is why we encourage our patients to use up their dental benefits before time runs out.

Why You Should Use Your Dental Benefits Before They Expire

You Paid for It

Many dental insurance plans require you to pay a certain amount of money (known as a deductible) before your dental benefits can be activated. If you paid your deductible for the year 2021 but failed to take advantage of the benefits, then the money is wasted as you would be required to pay your deductible all over again once the new year arrives.

Even if you don’t need services like dental implants and cosmetic dentistry, you still need to visit your dentist at least every six months for cleanings, examinations, and x-rays.

Yearly Maximums Do Not Roll Over

Most dental insurances have a maximum dollar amount that the plan will cover in a given year. If you’re yet to hit your annual maximum, now is the time to visit your dentist and use all the benefits your dental insurance coverage provides before the policy restarts. Remember, your yearly maximum does not roll over. That means you will lose your unused benefits.

Delaying Can Be Worse

Many dental issues can sneak up on us without ever showing a symptom until the problem becomes serious. However, regular or bi-annual visits to your dentist can help catch potential problems when they are less costly and easy to fix.

If you don’t visit your dentist regularly and use your dental benefits or address brewing problems as soon as possible, your dental issues can worsen or require more expensive procedures. Keep in mind that your dental benefits plan does not cover everything. So it is better to use it to spot problems early and prevent them or address any brewing problems before they fester.

Don’t Forget Your Flexible Spending Account

If you own an FSA account through your employer, know that this plan benefit will expire by December 31st, 2021, and unused funds will be returned to your employer and will no longer be yours. Your FSA account is a savings plan that has your money in it. Make sure you take full advantage of your investment.

Using Your Dental Insurance Benefits for Dental Checkup, Cleaning, and Treatment Services

Wondering how to make the most of your dental insurance benefits before the year ends? The first thing we advise patients to do is schedule an appointment with us and let us know which dental benefits plan they carry. That will help us determine what it covers and what they may be expected to pay for treatment.

We will also examine your teeth, roots, and gums with advanced digital imaging technology, ask questions about your oral health and allow our team to walk you through the cleaning and treatment processes. That will help you plan your treatment to improve the function of your smile and your health and beauty.

Creating Your Treatment Plan

At LandMark Dentistry, we believe that every smile is unique. That’s why we give our patients the custom individual dental care they need. We provide dental care for people of all ages, from seniors and adults to teens, toddlers, and babies.

We will determine what your dental insurance covers when you come in. Then we will create a plan that ensures you receive the treatment that improves your smile and quality of life without exceeding your budget. Whether it’s general dentistry or a dental restoration that prevents and treats infections to damaged teeth or that brightens and corrects teeth shape and alignment issues, our treatment employs advanced technologies to give you the smile you deserve.
