About Dr. Vivek Thanawala
Dr. Vivek Thanawala (“Dr. V” as patients call him) grew up in Sanford, NC and graduated from East Carolina University’s inaugural dental class. After spending the last few years in Columbus, OH, and Asheville, NC he is excited to call Charlotte, NC his new home! Dr. Vivek prides himself in making patients feel at ease with his approachable attitude. He is dedicated in providing the highest quality dental care. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his wife, Sweety, and playing with his cats, Thumper and Pepper. He looks forward to meeting you and forming a long-lasting relationship!

What sets you apart?
Personally, I am very approachable and laid back. Like to have fun at the office and do team events every quarter with them.
What is your favorite spot around town?
Favorite restaurant – La Victoria in the Ballantyne area. It has the best queso and salsas. I always get the vegetarian combo #3 that comes with queso on the burrito and chalupa.
Favorite brewery – several options that I like, but Catawba is always a favorite. Every Thursday they have new small batch beers, so there is always a variety of options – favorite is Evening Joe Caramel Macchiato.
Where could we find you on the weekends?
Anne Springs Close Greenway is always a go-to place on the weekends. Miles of trails you can walk on.
Do you have any pets?
Thumper and Pepper are my two short-haired cats. Thumper is five years old and gray-white. Pepper is three years old and black-white.
Do you love to travel? Where have you been? What is on your list?
Went to Turks & Caicos in the Caribbean over Christmas 2022 for a few nights. Every Thanksgiving we also try to go to a cabin for a few nights – this past Thanksgiving we rented a cabin in Charlottesville, VA and enjoyed quite a few wineries. Favorite vacation was Greece (2019). Hope to next go somewhere new, such as Costa Rica or Central/South America.
Who or what event inspired your career path the most?
Friend in undergrad who was pre-dental got me interested in dentistry as I was unsure of what career path I wanted to take. Completed a Masters program together as well and we both ended up going through dental school and becoming dentists!
Hobbies and Interest:
My assistant Jonathan and I work out during lunch through the Peloton app with free weights in our spare operatory room. Otherwise in my free time I spend time with my wife and cats.
